About the Event
○ Monday, May 18, 6:30pm: One Woman, One Vote. This PBS American Experience episode documents the 72-year struggle for women's suffrage which culminated in the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920. Narrated by Susan Sarandon.
○ Wednesday, May 20, 6:30pm: Suffragette. Inspired by true events, this moving drama explores the passion and heartbreak of the women who risked everything in their fight for equality in early 20th century Britain. Starring Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep.
○ Thursday, May 21, 6:30pm: Suppressed: The Fight to Vote. This 2019 documentary features experts, poll watchers and everyday Americans speaking to the reality of voter suppression and the threat it poses in 2020. The film exposes ways that the basic constitutional right to vote continues to be under siege in America.
○ Saturday, May 23, 1-5pm: Not for Ourselves Alone. This two-part, Ken Burns directed documentary presents the history of women's suffrage in the United States through the dramatic, often turbulent friendship of Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan Anthony.
